Within the playroom and integrating Play & Creative Arts Therapy techniques the child or young person can explore their life history using a variety of mediums. Life Story Work can also be used in conjunction with Play & Creative Arts Therapy in order to allow a young person to build a therapeutic relationship and process their thoughts and feelings in a non- directive way whilst also establishing coping mechanisms and building resilience in preparation for demands of Life Story Work.
A Life Story Book can also be made as part of the child or young person's Life Story Work both in session with the young person or in addition to depending on the young persons needs and wishes.

This ensues that children are helped in a sensitive way to learn about and come to terms with their life history...An exceptionally skilled worker carries out life story work with the children and they develop a clear understanding about their situation. This understanding prepares them well to make the best of the next stage in their lives."
